Dr. Mark J. Perry is a professor of economics and finance in the School of Management at the Flint campus of the University of Michigan. Perry holds two graduate degrees in economics (M.A. and Ph.D.) from George Mason University near Washington, D.C. In addition, he holds an MBA degree in finance from the Curtis L. Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota. In addition to a faculty appointment at the University of Michigan-Flint, Perry is also a visiting scholar at The American Enterprise Institute in Washington, D.C.

If Mankiw wanted to be honest about his craft and a better teacher, he would have left Tiger in.
That would be a great chapter on how sound reasoning is still susceptible unknowns.
Mankiw asks kind of a dumb question...
The question needs to be prefaced regardless of whether its Woods or Brady with, "is there endorsement money in it for the one on the riding mower?"...
The story I see is that the rich have more opportunity than the poor, and therfore more opportunity costs.
The better question is, "Should Tiger just pay for sex straight out, or, given the value of hsi time, enter into relationships based on money but which have a veneer (thin, very thin) of respectability?"

Wow. It's so thin, I can't even see it. What exactly is the difference between Tiger paying for sex straight out, and Tiger paying for sex straight out? Does not negotiating price provide respectability?
Ironically, Tiger's problem was that he wouldn't pay straight out, at least with the women other than his wife. One of the reasons that so many went to the press is that he wouldn't pay them anything: one said she asked for rent money and he said no. Tiger is known to be the worst celebrity tipper, supposedly a trait he got from his dad. Rick Reilly speculated that if Tiger just hadn't been so cheap, the whole thing wouldn't have exploded as it did, as they wouldn't have all gone running for the tabloid money once given a chance. So there's actually a great lesson here for Mankiw's book, on how not paying can screw you in the end, but understandably I don't expect to see this in his book anytime soon. ;) Tom Brady had his own scandal a couple years ago where his actress girlfriend got pregnant around the same time he dumped her, but I guess that didn't hit Mankiw's radar. :)
