Markets in Everything I: Lunch with Warren Buffett

Bid on Ebay for a Power Lunch with Warren Buffett, current high bid is $40,100.

Mr. Buffett will dine with the winning bidder and up to 7 friends at "Smith and Wollensky" in New York, which has been called “the steakhouse to end all arguments” by The New York Times. A mutually agreed upon date and time for the lunch will be selected by Mr. Buffett and the winning bidder.

I can see why someone like Obama and his ilk might want to dine with Buffett but why would anyone else with half a brain want to be seen with someone who champions the increasing taxes?

Regarding Smith & Wollensky as a steak house extraordinaire, well I think its a pretty fair place to eat but its more image than substance...

Personally I thought the steaks at Mr. Paul's Chophouse in Roseville served up a much better meal...

Buffett isn't exactly the voice to listen to regarding fine dining...after all, the man drinks Cherry Coke and eats at diners.

I've only ever had S&W once, up on 20th and M in Northwest DC. Didn't really like it, had to ask them twice to go back and cook my steak some more. Then I finally got it and it tasted like what I get at Outback Steakhouse. Ruth's Chris and Shula's (the football coach owns it) are still my favorite steak housees.

Hilarious! Thanks...

Yes, Mr. 'tax the dead until the heirs are impoverished' Buffett knows how to pick them...:-)

Hey gwu south I too like Ruth's Chris but I've never been to a Shula's... Is that a national chain or is it just in the Florida area?

Only the rich can afford to be socialists.

add to that:

he never sells any stock (therefore pays no capital gains taxes), he has said he will donate his fortune to charity (therefore avoiding all inheritance taxes) and lives frugally - see aboe regarding cherry coke and diners (keeping his paycheck down and sales taxes low). The man lives in such as way as to completely disqualify him from having any credible opinion on tax policy.
